A Bike Ride by our House

By our house,
there is a hill.
A gradual hill
but still a thrill.
.
On top of that hill
is a bridge
Not a ridge
but a real bridge.

And under that bridge
is a track.
A train track
What do you think about that?

Trains on that track
really do go clickety-clack.
But no one seems to wave back.

Boomerang

On our last Sunday last October in our little 'ville in Oklahoma a sister in Relief Society came up to me to express her fond wishes for our family and tell us good bye.  She then made a statement that caused both a chuckle and a little bit of a shudder from me, "I expect you might be back sooner than you think.  This place tends to act as a boomerang."

I laughed because I thought, how could that be possible.  We were switching jobs.  Moving completely away.  We were selling our house.  Leaving dear friends.  We were moving on.  I shuddered a bit because I thought, I don't really need that complication in my life.  Why would I make a choice to move if I'm only going to be coming back in a short while.

Well, her statement proved to be prophetic.

We are going back to our berg in Oklahoma.

Yep, you read that right.  We are going to be Oklahomans again after our short six month stint of being Minnesotans and we didn't even experience a true winter.  Sheesh.  We are such wimps!!  Ok, it had nothing to do with the weather.  In fact, I just told Clark the other day he would have been better of moving me in the depths of winter then to tear me away from Minnesota in the spring.  Gosh, there is a lilac bush blooming on every corner.

The long and short of it is this:  it just didn't work out like we were hoping.  Clark took a really great job here that just didn't fit the way he was expecting and planning it to be.  Especially not the way his other job did.  So we are going back.

We feel peace about.  And yes, a bit of excitement about being back with some great friends.  Definitely some sadness in leaving behind family, the MN Mormon Chorale (flying back weekly for rehearsals seems a bit excessive), proximity to the temple, great education, and Target.  Come on, this is headquarters here - like a stone's throw from our house.  Ok, I really would have to get in my car and drive about 20 minutes to actually throw a stone at a Target headquarters building but that was a heck of a lot closer than actually driving to shop at a store in Oklahoma.  But you get my point.

We'll be in an Oklahoman location near you in June.

I think the cookies might have had a little bit to do with it.  The oven on our rental home tends to burn things.

Silence

Ok, whoa what happened here.  I take a few weeks break (or maybe a month or two) and blogger totally went and changed on me.  Hopefully there are improvements, especially in adding pictures.  But that is not what I've come here to write about.

Things have been quiet on this blog here of late.  I've been thinking that through and truthfully I think it has been a reflection of my life lately.  I mean, not to say that there isn't noise in my life.  Because believe me, there has been plenty of it.  But since moving to Minnesota my life has taken a slower pace and become somewhat quieter.  I spend more time at home during the day and not as much time out and about with my children.  Especially not much socializing.  I don't that has been a bad thing it has just changed the pace of my life.  Essentially I feel as though my life is quieter, more introspective.

You would think with less people to talk to, vent to, discuss things with, express to, I would be turning to this blog as more of an outlet.  I haven't felt that way.  I've kind of enjoyed the peace of my life and even somewhat my privacy.  Maybe I'll regret not documenting this part of my life . . . but strangely I think it has been freeing to not share.

I know some people have wondering, "Are you ok? We haven't heard from you in a while."  Yep, I'm just busy being quiet.

It's been strange, this silence.  I've never been one to be overly out-going or have a huge group of friends or constantly seeking companionship.  I enjoy being a home body and yes, at times, being a bit reclusive.  I also enjoy being with people I feel comfortable with that I can easily talk and express things about what I'm thinking without feeling overly self-conscious.  I haven't truly found that here but as I said before, it really hasn't bothered me much.

It's been nice, enjoying the silence.
