Crazy Talk

It's amusing to have a three-year-old around the house. Jaron typically amuses me with what is on his mind or his regular grammatical goofs. ("Them peoples are coming." or "I want some puddin'".) I thought it was worth sharing a few moments.

First, Jaron lately has become an early riser and typically is on the go until we can force him to bed around 7:30 pm. On regular occasions he falls asleep at the dinner table or in the car during late afternoon errands. [A side note: He doesn't actually fall asleep while eating dinner. He is still chewing though his eyes are closed and his head is nodding around. Sometimes he'll keep that up for a good 10-15 minutes, then wakes up, gets down from the table and of course, has all the energy in the world.] There have been a number of times when he is particularly tired he starts complaining about his eyes, insisting they hurt. Usually after careful questioning of the problem he will declare, "My eyes won't stay open!"

This second story I'm going to use against Jaron for a long time. He was in a particularly non-compliant mood when it came to bed time. Clark finally in frustration, after insisting Jaron brush his teeth, took it upon himself to assist Jaron. Of course, the loss of independence thoroughly riled Jaron up. He screamed and cried but we managed to get him physically in bed. While conversing with some friends in the kitchen we could hear Jaron shouting about something. We finally clearly heard him loudly declare from his bed: "MY TEETH ARE STILL DIRTY!" We tried to ignore him, hoping exhaustion would take over and he would sleep (dirty teeth or not). No such luck. For the next 5-10 minutes we heard him declaring the awful state of his teeth and how it was affecting his ability to sleep.

Clark finally gave in and escorted Jaron back to the bathroom to allow him to re-brush. On the way he told Clark how there were "a couple spots." After completing the task he informed Clark that he had "got the spots."
